May 1/01 "Starr" is an approx 3 yro spayed black brindle female. She is docked and cropped and is a smaller female (24-25" at the
shoulders) but is somewhat overweight. Starr was found wandering (unspayed) and was turned into the HS very matted - she had obviously had pups recently that had perhaps just been weaned. She is a VERY intense dog and
NOT for the inexperienced - she is high energy. She appears to be good w/small dogs but doesn't like dogs larger than herself and I wouldn't suggest being around small children. Starr is exceptionally bright,
learns quickly, would excel in agility, obedience - she knows 'sit' ('sitz'), 'down' ('platz'), fetches, loves a tennis ball and has obviously had some training. Starr is not fond of some men - am still trying to
figure out what triggers her - she is very guardy and protective when on a leash. She is very loving with people that she knows and very playful. For further info pls contact Margo Illing at pitabouv@sympatico.ca May9/01 Sadly today,
I was forced to send Starr across the Rainbow Bridge. Because of her very high prey drive and some previous incomplete training, Starr was a danger to herself and others. After speaking with several behaviourists
and trying many different ways of 'reprogramming' her and after several bites, it was decided that it would be best to let her go. I truly wish that people who purchase a bouvier would do more research on the
breed first - training is never an option with a bouvier and starting any kind of protection/working type of training MUST be completed - again, a dog has paid the ultimate price - with her life! - because of some
humans ignorance and lack of knowledge. Sleep softly little girl!! ... |
